Level 7 diplomas in Education and Teaching

Leadership at master's level for heads, deputies, programme leads and training managers.

Our view

What this group covers, and what it does not

Two diplomas, one from each awarding body, for people who lead in schools, colleges, training providers or corporate learning functions. Both sit at Level 7 and both treat leadership as something done in a policy context, with units on educational change, intercultural communication, pedagogy and reflective practice. They are not teaching qualifications and do not confer qualified teacher status; they assume you already teach or lead and want to think more rigorously about how the institution around you works. Holders often go on to a master's in educational leadership by top-up, where a university accepts the credits.
